Still

“I need to be alone,” she said.

he stayed beside her.

“Go away! I don’t wanna see you here!”

and he stayed.

“Leave! Idiot!”

and he stayed.

“I hate seeing you here! I don’t need your flowers!”

and he stayed.

“Go and don’t come back!”

and he stayed.

“You only know how to make me sad! Leave now!”

and he stayed.

“I don’t wanna see you keep coming back, stupid! I need a rest!”

she was bursting in tears of desperation,

and he was still not moving,

from that wet reddish mound of soil with her name carved on a stone.
